Tara Bennett (formerly DiLullo) is the NYT Bestselling author or co-author of many movie and TV companion books including Sons of Anarchy: The Official Collector’s Edition, The Official Making of Big Trouble in Little China, Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show, The Making of Outlander: Official Guide to Seasons 1 and 2, Fringe: September’s Notebook (an Amazon Best Book of 2013), The Lost Encyclopedia, The Art of 300, and 24: The Official Companion Guide: Seasons 1 through 6.

Tara is the host and producer of Syfy Wire’s official podcast for USA Network’s drama, Colony. And she is often featured as an expert guest on a variety of pop culture-related media programs such as: The Nerdist Writers Podcast with Ben Blacker, Popculture Confidential, Siren FM’s Midweek Drive with Alex Lewczuk, FilmBeef Podcast, Fictional Frontiers with Sohaib, and Shaun Daily’s TVTalk/The Television Man.
As a speaker, she moderated the last two 24 TV series panels at San Diego Comic-Con (featured on the 24 Complete Box Set) and Evangeline Lilly’s 2014 The Squickerwonker’s book panel. She moderated the Freeform Beyond panel at Stan Lee’s Comic Con in 2016. And for the Showrunners documentary, she moderated two panels at SDCC (2013 & 2014), a New York Comic-Con 2013 panel, a ScriptFest 2015 showrunners panel and the Television Academy 2014 movie premiere including seven doc featured showrunners. At ScriptFest 2016, she moderated a women in television writing panel featuring four distinguised staff writers.
Ms. Bennett is also an adjunct professor at Rowan University in New Jersey (online), teaching Film and Television studies. As part of her curriculum, Bennett utilizes a wide array of television programs to teach her students how to develop spec pilots and write for television.
Before starting her writing career, Tara worked for almost a decade as a television producer on the east coast for outlets such as CN8 and Comcast. She then used her expertise to transition into writing full-time about the industry with a focus on scripted dramas and genre-related films. She has recently returned to television, developing and executive producing the docu-series, Creator-Owned.
Ms. Bennett is available for speaking engagements at seminars, universities and schools to discuss a variety of topics such as her various books on film and television, how to navigate the pop culture waters as a female genre writer, or as an expert guest that can speak to trending topics in pop culture.
